The international network of art libraries will come together for the 9th time to hold its bi-annual conference, this year at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte(Central Institute for Art History) in Munich, Germany. The conference is both a meeting of the partner libraries joining the Art Discovery Group Catalogue project and an occasion to mark the 10th anniversary of the Future of Art Bibliography Initiative (FAB) as an instructive and aspirational lens through which to view many of the major community-based projects that have developed in our domain over the past decade. It will examine projects individually and collectively, in both practical and conceptual terms, and consider topics of collaboration, inclusivity, and diversity of art information.

Call for Papers
The goal of the conference is to bring together information specialists, librarians, publishers, students and scholars in the fields of art, architecture, and visual culture to discuss the progress of the Art Discovery Group Catalogue and recent developments that are shaping, guiding, and challenging the art information profession. The program seeks to cover a broad spectrum of topics including but not limited to:

• resource sharing and collective collecting
• collaborative catalogs
• linked open data
• digitization and IIIF
• diversity in resource building
• web archiving
• image-based collection searching
• art bibliography as a framework 
• the future of art information 

Abstracts should describe original, unpublished work. The proposals for papers, lightning talks, or panels are due on June 1, 2022. You must include the title plus a 500 word abstract (no images), to give a brief description of the presentation. You will be notified within one month regarding the acceptance of your proposal. The final presentations and the abstracts will be made available on the Artdiscovery.net website after the conference. Partial travel support may be available. The conference is planned to take place in-person in Munich; a switch to a virtual conference will happen if necessary.

De afgelopen twee jaar zijn we anders gaan werken onder invloed van de beperkingen die de COVID 19-pandemie ons oplegde. Minder plaatsgebonden, meer digitaal… (Kunst)bibliotheken hebben zich moeten aanpassen aan een nieuwe werkelijkheid. Bepaalde ontwikkelingen zijn in een stroomversnelling gekomen, nieuwe mogelijkheden zijn verkend. Welke lessen hebben we geleerd en kunnen we ook in het post-coronatijdperk inzetten?

Het OKBN heeft afgelopen najaar besloten om het beste, meest innovatieve project of idee in coronatijd te waarderen met de OKBN-innovatieprijs. De inzendingen zijn te vinden op deze pagina, waar ook de mogelijkheid bestaat om je stem uit te brengen op jouw favoriete kandidaat. De publieksstemmen worden meegewogen in het eindoordeel van de jury, die bestaat uit: Geert-Jan Koot, voormalig hoofd van de Rijksmuseum Research Library en conservator Bibliotheekcollecties bij het Rijksmuseum (voorzitter), Frank Huysmans, bijzonder hoogleraar Informatiesamenleving, in het bijzonder de transformatie van openbare bibliotheken (bijzondere leerstoel vanwege de KB | Nationale Bibliotheek)  aan de UVA, en Marg van den Burgh, Programmamanager Metamorfoze bij de KB | Nationale Bibliotheek.

De OKBN Voorjaarsbijeenkomst staat in het teken van deze innovaties in (kunst)bibliotheken. Saskia Scheltjens, afdelingshoofd Research Services van het Rijksmuseum, zal haar licht laten schijnen over twee jaar Corona-beperkingen en de gevolgen daarvan voor het (kunst)bibliotheekvak. Vervolgens zullen de drie kanshebbers op de innovatieprijs hun inzending toelichten, waarbij er ruimte is voor vragen. We sluiten af met de uitreiking van de OKBN Innovatieprijs uit handen van de juryvoorzitter.

Na afloop kunnen we napraten onder het genot van een borrel. We hopen jullie te mogen verwelkomen op deze OKBN Voorjaarsbijeenkomst.

Kress Foundation, the Art Libraries Society of North America offers a program to help fund international travel and promote the exchange of ideas and information among art librarians. Exceptional art information professionals will receive awards beginning at the amount of $1,500 USD* to attend conferences, thereby fostering communication and developing connections with international projects and initiatives. ​​

There are two categories of awards:

• For European librarians and art information professionals to attend the annual conference of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA). The 50th Annual Art Libraries Society of North America conference to be held in Chicago, Illinois from April 5-9, 2022.   
• For ARLIS/NA members to attend the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Art Libraries Satellite Meeting or another European art library conference. IFLA will hold their World Library and Information Congress in Dublin, Ireland from July 26-29, 2022. Given that some conferences may be offered virtually in 2022, applications for $150-500 for virtual conference attendance will also be considered.

*The Samuel H. Kress International Travel Awards Committee may take into consideration levels of need, participation, and travel costs before determining the final amount, but each award will begin with the $1,500 USD amount.

Ons bereikte het droevige bericht van het overlijden van Goos Dullaart op 24 januari jl. in de leeftijd van 78 jaar. Sinds zijn pensionering in 2010 was hij erelid van het OKBN. Het erelidmaatschap werd hem verleend uit waardering voor zijn vele verdiensten voor het OKBN, niet in de laatste plaats als een van de mede oprichters in 1982. Daarnaast heeft hij vele jaren bestuurstaken in onze vereniging vervuld waaronder meerdere malen het voorzitterschap.

Ondanks een zwakke gezondheid toonde hij zich nog steeds betrokken bij onze vereniging. Zo stuurde hij afgelopen zomer nog een afzegging voor onze online bijeenkomst met daarbij een gevonden uitnodiging voor de online informatie konferentie van Swets Subscription Service in De Doelen in 1992! Hij vroeg zich daarbij af hoeveel van ons nog zouden weten dat Swets indertijd een belangrijke tijdschriftenleverancier was. Swets bestaat niet meer, en online meetings hebben nu een totaal andere invulling was zijn overpeinzing.

De uitvaart heeft afgelopen donderdag 3 februari in besloten kring plaatsgehad. Wij herdenken Goos Dullaart met respect en vriendschap.

Het OKBN wil dit jaar de beste bibliothecaire innovatie waarderen met een geldprijs van € 400

Het Overleg Kunsthistorische Bibliotheken Nederland nodigt zijn leden en andere kunstgerelateerde instellingen uit om hun meest succesvolle innovatie in Coronatijd te delen. Hoe ben jij in jouw bibliotheek de afgelopen twee jaar aan het werk geweest met je collega’s en voor je klanten? Wat kon opeens juist wel en zelfs beter of sneller? En wie had, of heeft, daar profijt van: je klant, je collega’s of allebei? Kortom, een dienst of product waardoor een verbetering is ingezet of tot stand gebracht en waar òf de klant, òf je collega’s òf allebei van profiteren. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een instructiefilmpje, een podcast, een dienst waardoor mensen niet meer hoeven te reizen, een nieuwe leermethode voor informatie-skills, …

Procedure
Maak een pitch (video, plaatjes, poster, en/of tekst). Adresseer zo mogelijk de volgende vragen:
Wat heb je vernieuwd/veranderd?
Wat is hieraan innovatief?
Wat heb je hierdoor verbeterd?
Hoe kunnen andere instellingen hiervan profiteren/leren?

Stuur deze pitch aan info@okbn.nl onder vermelding van ‘OKBN Innovatieprijs 2021’. De uiterste inzenddatum is 6 januari 2022. Jij en je instelling gaan ermee akkoord dat de inzending (presentatie) mogelijk op de website van het OKBN geplaatst wordt.

Alle inzendingen worden bekeken door een onafhankelijke vakjury. Deze jury bestaat uit Frank Huysmans (hoogleraar Informatiesamenleving, UvA), Geert-Jan Koot (voormalig conservator/hoofd bibliotheek van het Rijksmuseum), en Marg van der Burgh (programmamanager Metamorfoze bij de KB). De jury stelt een shortlist samen van de drie beste inzendingen. Deze shortlist wordt op de website van het OKBN geplaatst, waardoor leden en niet-leden de inzendingen kunnen bekijken. Alle OKBN-leden kunnen vervolgens een stem uitbrengen en de prijswinnaar bepalen. De prijswinnaar wordt bekend gemaakt tijdens de OKBN-voorjaarsbijeenkomst van 2022.

Op dinsdag 5 oktober was het OKBN te gast bij de Bibliotheek Utrecht aan de Neude. De kleine 25 aanwezigen kregen achtereenvolgens een presentatie van Roy van Maarseveen van Zecc Architecten die betrokken was bij de verbouwing van het oude postkantoor tot bibliotheek, en een van directeur Deirdre Carasso die haar plannen voor de bibliotheek met ons deelde. Tot slot was er een rondleiding door het pand onder leiding van verschillende enthousiaste vrijwilligers en natuurlijk een borrel, waar de OKBN-leden elkaar na ruim anderhalf jaar weer eens ‘live’ konden spreken.
